Jim Sullivan’s Otaki club Corsair.

Hello Folks,
Here are several shots of the 1/48th Otaki F4U-1A Corsair for our club build as she currently sits on the modeling table. I’m just about ready to start shooting the tri-color finish. The Otaki Corsair is a basic kit but nicely molded with recessed panel lines. I’m adding in some after-market parts to enhance the build. The cockpit has the Yahu instrument panel as well as parts of the True Details F4U-1A/D cockpit set. I’ve replaced the kit engine with a more detailed R-2800 from a junked Tamiya Corsair. The gray primer was applied to check the seams so if problems exist they can be corrected before the colors are airbrushed. Thanks for looking…more later as the build progresses.

I've just gotten back into modeling since I joined the club 2 years ago. I've since become the editor of the newsletter and actually completed a couple of models. I've also learned I can use an airbrush. The club is the best thing for a modeler because of the great guys in it and their willingness to help and newcomer like me. I've had just a bunch of fun. Thanks Guys
